Little Miss Busy

Everything is in boxes in my parents’ house in Alabang. I was over there, looking for something totally unrelated, but found my old AMI Montessori notes! Wow, what a blessing! I also found the book, Little Miss Busy which a friend gave to me a decade ago. Back then, I thrived on juggling countless projects and working non-stop, hoping that it all pleased God.

A wise Christian sister said to me:

Busyness (even at church) does not equate to Godliness.

What a helpful reminder! To clarify, the bible speaks against idleness (1 Timothy 5:13, Proverbs 31:27, Ecclesiastes 10:18, Ecclesiastes 11:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:14, 2 Thessalonians 3:6-10). However, it does not endorse overworking that neglects what is essential (Proverbs 27:23-24).

A few weeks ago, another sister abroad was struggling with a decision to accept some new commitments at church. She does a wonderful job in Children’s Ministry and Women’s Ministry there. I prayed that she could say “no” to good projects and say “yes” to God’s best.

Are you spreading yourself too thin? Are you lost in the busyness?

Let us remember that our business is not busyness but to bring glory to God. To God be the glory!

  1. Frannie, I miss you! I am happy to read your blogs. I envy you! Hopefully I find time again to “journalize” God’s blessings in my life and praise His name everyday! I think I will be revamping doxatheos soon.

    God bless!
